SHELLEY AKINS

Hey there! My name is Shelley and I was born and raised in the idyllic town of Florence, Alabama. I wrote my first short story in the second grade about talking animal therapists, and it was then that the writing bug bit. My obsession with word weaving and storytelling brought me to the University of North Alabama to hone in on this passion. I attended as a full-time student while also juggling being a stay-at-home mom and graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and multimedia in May 2021. I now have my dream job of running my small business as a freelance writer and, of course, being a mother to my two amazing kiddos (and one slightly chubby puggle).
Through my training at UNA and over the course of my professional writing career I have gained an up-close perspective of the media industry and developed invaluable skills in my wheelhouse.  My mission is to cater my expertise to each client and their needs and produce engaging and quality content. I look forward to chatting with you and discovering what stories we create together.
